The Bramabiau canyon located in the southern Cévennes in the heart of the national park is an ideal initiation canyon for a first approach to the activity or for a family outing.
Progress in the river is made by jumps and toboggans in a playful and bucolic setting where most obstacles can be avoided or redone at will.
Description Canyoning : Bramabiau canyon in the Gard
After being introduced to your guide at the meeting point in front of the Meyrueis post office and twenty minutes by minibus you will reach the entrance to the Bramabiau canyon located in the Gard department a few kilometers from the border with the Lozere.
You will be equipped with a 5 mm double-piece suit, neoprene socks, a harness and a helmet. Remember to provide a pair of shoes suitable for the practice of canyoning (basketball type).
A short 5 minutes approach walk will give you access to the first basin of the canyon where your guide will give you all the safety instructions inherent in the descent.
The first part of the canyon consists of a succession of obstacles: small slides, swims, low jumps, river walks. The walk is easy and you will quickly become accustomed to the basic techniques of this activity.
After arriving at the second part of the canyon, the atmosphere changes radically. You enter a natural aqualand where toboggans and jumps of various heights follow one another.
The first toboggan ends up in a basin or you can do a jump of about 3 meters. A rope will allow you to go back again to the jump or the toboggan at will (it is however possible to circumvent the obstacle).
Then you continue through a passage with a technical handrail, followed by a jump of about two meters into a small intermediate basin (avoidable jump).
Then you arrive at the best point of the canyon: a large slide open wide a dozen meters! Guaranteed sensational!
The arrival of the toboggan is done in a huge natural swimming pool where you can do jumps of different heights at will. You can even try the psycobloc of the canyon (climbing route above the water).
Finally after a few minutes of progress, you will arrive at the last obstacle of the descent: a magnificent tubular slide (avoidable) followed by a last jump of about two meters.
The return walk will take you to the road in about ten minutes where you will have to walk 5 minutes further to reach the minibus.
