Description Canyoning : Dry canyon in the gorges du Tarn
The meeting point with your instructor will be at the village of Les Vignes ( 30 mns from Sainte-enimie).
From the village of Les Vignes, we leave the gorge to take on the forest tracks of Causse Sauveterre to reach a natural and isolated area called "the end of the world".
From here, after a short walk in a landscape of mixed boxwood, pine and juniper we arrive at the beginning of the canyon where you will be equipped with a harness and a helmet.
You then listen to the instructor's briefing on the rappelling technique and practice at your own pace before attacking the descent.
Then the route starts with a succession of small easy abseils whose height does not exceed 8 meters. You will be constantly monitored by your instructor with a side rope, so there is no risk of slipping or letting go of the rope.
After training on these first descents, the canyon opens out and a breathtaking panorama awaits you and you can admire the gorges of the Tarn at nearly 400 meters high.
It is not uncommon to see many vultures circling in the thermals. The next stage is little more impressive since you will first have to follow an air handrail and continue with a magnificent descent of 30 meters which ends on a very large terrace at altitude where we will take a break to have a quiet picnic.
Then more adrenaline with the crossing of a very high zip line that ends at the start of the final part of the descent. There is however a way to get around in a few minutes by a parallel path that joins the rest of the course.
Lastly you will reach the finale, the highlight of the show! A 50 meter downhill free abseil in the heart of an exceptional landscape!
Then, after a last crossing without rope, you will leave the canyon to reach the hiking path that joins in a few minutes the troglodyte village of Saint-Marcellin that you can then visit at your own pace.
The site is incredible beauty and the view of the river below and the gorges of the Tarn adds to this idyllic setting an unforgettable vew.
The return will be by a hiking path without difficulty that will take us back in 30 minutes to the starting point where the minibus awaits us.
