Description Canyoning : Canyoning at the sources du Tarn
The rendez-vous for the Sources du Tarn is in the village of Pont-de-Montvert .You will meet at the car park behind the church (follow the Tarn through the village and take the first road on the left).
On your arrival at the carpark for the Sources du Tarn canyoning, your guide will give you your personal kit made up of a canyoning-specific wetsuit (pants, jacket and socks) adjusted to your size, a helmet, a harness, and a backpack containing a waterproof container in which you can put your picnic and your dry things (no papers or mobile phone).
After a short 20 minute approach, through a pretty forest, you will arrive at the start of the canyoning spot. There will be time to picnic at the edge of basins (small natural pools) of clear water, before taking your time to get ready. Your instructor will then give you all the safety instructions regarding the canyoning and off you go!
The first part of this canyon in the Tarn is made up of small jumps (up to 3 meters) where we will be able to practice the basic technics of canyoning. Then there is a short walk to reach a narrow area (called Rajole in Occitan), where there is a big slide (15 meters) and jumps of multiple heights. All these obstacles are avoidable, for the less adventurous.
The Rajole then opens out area and we undertake a beautiful natural slide of about 10 meters then, after a short walk in the river, the descent of this canyoning course in the Gorges du Tarn ends with a very beautiful but technical jump, or the less daring can abseil.
After returning your equipment, you can enjoy a final swim in the waterholes before starting the 20-minute walk back to the car park. The return will be by minibus to the village of Sainte-Enimie where your vehicles await you.
